Colombia has been officially appointed as Guest Nation to the Seoul International Book Fair, the biggest book festival of the Korean literary sector, organized by local editors, where flowers will be on the spotlight.
The announcement was made at 3:00 p.m at the Republic of South Korea stand in the International Book Fair of Bogotá (Filbo) by the Minister of Culture of Colombia, Angélica María Mayolo Obregón; the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Colombia, Kim Doo-sik; the Ambassador of Colombia in Korea, Juan Carlos Caiza Rosero; the Director of the International Book Fair of Bogotá, Andrés Sarmiento Villamizar and the CEO of Asocolflores, Augusto Solano Mejía.
One of the announcements that was made during the event is that Flowers from Colombia will be present throughout the different activities of the Korean Fair. As stated by Augusto Solano, “we are working with the Colombian Embassy in Seoul to take our flowers, with their emotional power, to the different cultural activities scheduled at our country´s stand in the venue of the Seoul book fair”.
“Day after day, the Colombian flowers gain more recognition in Asian markets, especially that of Korea. Therefore, we are happy to share their beauty with over 40 thousand daily attendees expected to visit the Book Fair. The participation of our flowers, through their colors, shapes, textures and fragrances will pay homage to the sensitivity, knowledge and inspiration that reading brings to the human beings,” added Solano.
Asocolflores will be supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and the cooperation of ProColombia in the coordination of the activities that will be embellished by our flowers. “Given the fact that this is the first time that a Latin American country is selected as Guest Nation to this Fair, our flowers, special ambassadors par excellence, will represent writers and cultural envoys in this outstanding editorial, literary and cultural exchange,” specified Solano.
The participation of the Colombian flower-growing sector in this fair is another one of a number of important activities tending to promote our flowers. At the end of last year, our flowers were admired by more than 15.000 people who were present at the premiere of Disney´s film “Encanto” at the main cinemas in Seoul.
